This is the word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD: "Go down to the potter's house, and there I will give you my message." So I went down to the potter's house, and I saw him working at the wheel. But the pot he was shaping from the clay was marred in his hands; so the potter formed it into another pot, shaping it as seemed best to him.
What is your purpose in life? What are you becoming? Do you ever wonder, “What lies ahead for me?” Consider Moses. His life can be divided into three phases. The first phase is Moses in the bulrushes, found by Pharaoh’s daughter and raised as a prince. The second is when he was around age 40. He killed someone, ran into the desert to hide and lived as a shepherd for 40 years. The third phase is when Moses met God at the burning bush. He hid his face because he was afraid to look at God. Moses tired to persuade the Lord that he was not capable of the task God was asking of him. He was right. He was not capable. However, God is not interested in being practical in the way we define it.
(Exodus 3 and 4)
When we see the power of God demonstrated in our lives, we are sometimes frightened. We need to realize that God has control over everything. He showed that to Moses when He gave him the three signs. When Moses expressed his fears and insecurity about public speaking, God answered, "Who gave man his mouth? Who makes him deaf or mute? Who gives him sight or makes him blind? Is it not I, the Lord?” God created human beings. He created Moses and He created you! You are fearfully and wonderfully made. You can obey God when you allow Him to take control over your life, knowing He is wise and good. Turn to God and not your own understanding for every choice you must make, big or small. He will make us better people, both on the inside and the outside, set apart in the Truth, each for a special and important purpose.
Prayer: Lord, help me to get out of Your way so You could better guide my life. Somehow, tell me what You want of me each day and help me to understand and obey. Help me not to be led by my ego, but by Your Spirit. Amen.
